October 4 (Sat.) - October is National Adopt A Shelter Dog Month. AWS canines and their Mobile Adoption Team friends will show you why shelter dogs make the best pets, not only in October, but all year long. Join us at Planet Dog in Portland October 4, 2008 from 12-2.
October 18 (Sat.) - AWS Humane Educator brings an adoptable animal to Children's Museum of Maine. Meet some great animals, create a craft and learn all about the Animal Welfare Society starts at 1:30pm. Located at 142 Free Street, Portland, Maine.
October 18 (Sat.) - Adopt A Shelter Dog Month continues at PetSmart in Biddeford on October 18, 2008 from 11-2. Stop by and introduce yourself to a shelter dog available for adoption.
October 24 - 26 (Fri. Sat. Sun.) - 5th Annual Dog Lovers Weekend at The Colony Hotel, Kennebunkport. Featuring local artisans and vendors. Welcome Reception Friday evening, an Animal Welfare Society Agility demonstration Saturday at 10:00am, Dog Fashion Show at 2:00pm and a dog/people costume contest Saturday night. November 4 (Tues.) - Tri-town Election Day Bakesale. Join us at the polls in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Wells as we sell delectable goodies and dog treats to benefit the Animal Welfare Society low cost Spay/Neuter Program. Care to bake or help at the tables?? Contact Gail at 985-3244 x 117.
November 15 (Sat.) - Celebrate Adopt a Senior Dog Month at Pet Quarters in Scarborough with the Mobile Adoption Team and adoptable pets from 11-2 with the AWS canine elder statesmen and women. These dogs will show you why life begins at eight!

December 6 (Sat.) - Tis the Season to join the AWS dogs at Planet Dog in Portland December 6, 2008 from 12-2. Make this year extra special and share the Spirit of the Season with your new family member.
December 13 (Sat.) - Join us at the shelter for our Annual Open House from 11-2. Enjoy some treats and receive a complimentary picture of your pet with Santa!
