Delilah – Adopted 03/10

After spending some time in foster care, Delilah is back in our Community Cat Room.

When first residing in our Community Cat Room, she was a little overwhelmed by shelter life, so she found a safe place on a high shelf behind a curtain and that’s where she spent her days. This wasn’t helping her learn to live contentedly in a new home, so we moved her to a foster home with another kitty.

She and her foster sister hid under the bed in their room for a few days. Eventually, they came out from under the bed and watched as their meals were prepared and served. They played chase together and watched the birds at the feeder.

Delilah has made wonderful progress. As soon as her foster mother entered a room, Delilah started purring, and wow does she ever have a loud purr! She took treats from her Foster mom’s hands, and let her pet her while she ate. On one occasion, the foster mom took a nap on the bed and Delilah got next to her feet and purred away. Mom worked on picking Delilah up and it progressed nicely.

Her foster mom also worked on introducing them to new rooms in the house. Delilah is still shy at first, but will eventually enjoy exploring, but this may take a couple of visits.

She’s ready for a home to call her own. On the quiet side would be best, considering her initial reaction to the Community Cat Room, but she has made a lot of progress since then.
