Animals in Foster Care

At any given time, Animal Welfare Society may have some animals available for adoption that aren’t actually at AWS, but living in a foster home.

While it’s typical for puppies and kittens to spend time in foster homes before being available, sometimes there are adult animals who benefit from living in a foster home while waiting to be adopted. A foster home provides animals with more personalized care they might not be able to get at the shelter, whether it be for medical or behavioral needs, as well as a more comforting and relaxing home environment. We have a handful of adoptable animals currently living in foster homes, including:

Etti, an 8-year old cat who is an independent gal.

Derry, a 10-year old English Setter who would make a great jogging partner.

We also partner with the organization Old Dogs, New Digs, who help us provide foster homes for senior dogs.

Interested in any of the animals AWS has available in foster care? Feel free to give us a call at (207) 985-3244. We’ll set up an appointment for you to meet the animal and do our best to answer any questions you may have.
