WEST KENNEBUNK, MAINE – August 25, 2014 – The board of directors of the Animal
Welfare Society has announced the retirement of Steve Jacobsen. Jacobsen, who
served as the organization’s executive director since 1995, has stepped down to pursue
other retirement opportunities that have recently become available.

Animal Welfare Society and Voice for Animals Join Forces to Help New Hampshire Cats

WEST KENNEBUNK, MAINE – December 11, 2013 – Voice For Animals (VFA), a non-profit organization headquartered in York, Maine, recently reached out to the Animal Welfare Society (AWS) in West Kennebunk, Maine to assist in providing spay/neuter surgeries to low income cat owners in eastern New Hampshire. AWS is a companion animal shelter serving 21 communities in Southern Maine.

AWS Invites Community to Annual Christmas Open House

WEST KENNEBUNK, Maine – November 22, 2013 – The Animal Welfare Society invites everyone in the community to its annual Christmas Open House.  The event will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 12pm until 3pm at the shelter on Holland Road in West Kennebunk. The Open House includes a children’s program with crafts, a bake sale, photos of your pet with Santa (please bring your own camera!) and a chance to visit with shelter staff and animals.
