Volunteer with the AWS and make a difference today!
Download Volunteer Application
The Volunteer Community here at the AWS is unlike any other volunteer opportunity. It is a rewarding and encouraging experience. The animals love the attention and time spent with them to make their stay here a happy one. Without the help of our volunteers, we would be unable to accomplish all we do with the animals and for the animals.
Commitment and communication are the keys to a successful group of caring, considerate people who are all here for the same reason because they love the animals. If you are interested in joining our dedicated team of volunteers, read on and find out more about our volunteer opportunities we have available.

.
* To be able to support a cause you believe in
..
How do I get started?
Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, or children 12 to 16 can volunteer with an adult at all times. Please give us a call and speak with the Volunteer Coordinator for more information. We will then schedule you for an Orientation. All our volunteers must complete an Orientation prior to volunteering. Once the Orientation is completed, we ask each volunteer to commit to at least two hours per week or eight hours per month. This commitment runs for a six month period, at which time it is reviewed. Mainers who fly south for the winter can usually be accomodated as well. It is at the Orientation that you will be able to let us know what you would like to do.
Please check out our listing of Volunteer Opportunities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Karen Surette, Volunteer Coordinator at 985-3244 ext. 121. We will look forward to meeting you soon. On behalf of the animals here at the AWS thank you for your consideration!
