Claiming an Animal at the AWS
We're glad that you have been reunited with your lost pet! While your pet stayed at our shelter, he or she received food, water, attention and needed care to the best of our ability. Unfortunately, these services are not free for us to provide so we do ask for a nominal claim fee when you pick up your animal.
Prior to picking up your dog, please check with your town to check if they have an impond fee that is required to help alleviate the costs to the Animal Control Officer. We will not release an animal unless proof of impound fee payment is provided.
The following towns require an Impound Fee: Acton, Biddeford, Lebanon, Shapleigh, Waterboro and Wells
Our shelter claim fees are as follows:
Unspayed/Unneutered Dogs
First day: $25.00
Additional days: $25.00
Day 8 and on: $30.00
Spayed/Neutered Dogs
First day: $25.00
Additional days: $20.00
Day 8 and on: $30.00
All Cats:
$13.00 per day
Other Animals:
$22.00 per day plus food costs
