Mildred L. Day School
We are very grateful to the generous students and faculty of the Mildred L. Day School. Every year they have a donation drive for the local food pantry and the Animal Welfare Society. And every year we are amazed at the size of the contribution. This year they amassed over 360 bags and cans of cat and dog food. Thanks for your continued support!
Maine Foodie Tours
A big thank you to Pam Laskey and Maine Foodie Tours for stopping by with the proceeds from their successful summer of Doggie and Me tours in Kennebunkport. We are so grateful for your ongoing support of AWS and the animals in our care. Meatball didn’t take long to warm up for these foodies. While he wouldn’t look at the camera, with a name like Meatball, he was a natural choice for the photo opp. Thanks again! For more info on Maine Foodie Tours, please visit their website.
A big thank you to the employees and friends of the ShuttleBus-Zoom. They recently collected donations to remember the late wife of one of their former bus drivers. Wealthie Perry was a huge animal lover, having adopted several shelter pets in her lifetime and giving them wonderful, loving homes. We were honored to accept these gifts in her memory. Our puppies went all out amusing Wealthie’s family and ZoomBus employees when they stopped by the shelter just before Christmas. We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness at this time of sorrow. Wealthie will be missed!
Last week, we were visited by these amazingly generous ladies from SMHC. Along with their colleagues, they organized a month long fundraiser for our animals! In total, they collected 774 items, including:
3,875.7 oz of pet food
206 pet toys
34 raw hide bones
6 packages of training pads
6 cans of Lysol wipes
18 rolls of paper towels
$100 gift card to PetSmart
WOW! Your gifts go a long way here at the shelter. Thank you so much!
Our newest satellite partner recently held a fundraiser to support AWS. Robin Cobb, one of the employees, donated two pieces of art and they held a raffle to benefit us. Robin gave us the proceeds and the store also donated several bags of pet-safe ice melt and 4 cases of wet dog food. Thank you very much to Robin and Aubuchon Hardware for their generosity!
HSUS Maine State Council
A special thanks to Betsy, Gina, and Katie of the Humane Society of the US Maine State Council. Betsy, a HSUS Maine State Council member, participated in HSUS’ “12 Acts of Kindness” by completing the very kind act of fulfilling all of our 12 Days of Christmas wishes! Gina also brought in special gifts specific for our birds!
