Volunteer with the Animal Welfare Society

Our volunteers are caring, committed, and all here for the same reason — because they love animals. Without their extra hands, we would be unable to accomplish all we do for pets in need. In 2016, our volunteers amassed more than 23,515 hours of service to AWS and our animals! We are so appreciative of the time, energy and knowledge that our volunteers share with our staff and pets.

Volunteer at AWS

Every day of the week, volunteers keep the shelter, adoption center, clinic and programs running smoothly. From walking dogs to answering phones, volunteers are an integral part of the operations of AWS’ facility in West Kennebunk.

Care for an Animal in your Home

Providing foster care to pets that are not ready for adoption is a great way to make a difference. When animals require more involved or long-term care, or if they are too young to be adopted, they are placed into foster care.

AWS provides everything you need to care for foster pets, including beds, toys, food, litter and medical care.  All you need to provide a safe, comfortable room and lots of LOVE!
