Thank you so much for your interest joining our team of volunteers at the Animal Welfare Society. Volunteers provide invaluable service to our animals, programs and services. We are grateful for your interest and look forward to welcoming you to the AWS team!

Our volunteers have a wide variety of skills and expertise and we want YOU to get the most of our your time volunteering at AWS. We offer flexible schedules for volunteers and have many different opportunities at our facility and throughout our programs and services.

  • Socializing with cats
  • Walking dogs
  • Taking dogs to training classes

Regular and occasional volunteers keep our facility in West Kennebunk running smoothly each and every day. There are plenty of ways to help including:

We welcome adult and junior volunteers. Teen volunteers aged 14-15 are invited to volunteer at AWS with a parent/guardian volunteering alongside them. Those aged 16-17 are welcome to volunteer individually with a parent/guardian’s consent.

NEW FOR 2018! We will offer regular orientations to showcase the many opportunities we have for volunteers. Orientations will last about an hour and will include a tour of AWS,  including the adoption center, community veterinary clinic and program spaces.

Interested volunteers should plan on attending an orientation prior to completing a volunteer application. Please sign up below for an upcoming orientation. After submitting the below form, you will receive more information on the orientation via email from our Volunteer Program Manager.
