Cooper *transferred to Franklin County Humane Society*

After Cooper’s owner passed away he was brought to the Animal Welfare Society.  He is a goofy, friendly kind of guy who loves to play and explore. He is a 61 lbs. 6-year old Hound Mix who would be happy to share a new home with some other dogs and older, respectful children. Cooper loves following his nose on walks and will even chat with his people. Cooper will most definitely fill a new home with lots of excitement, energy, and love. If Cooper sounds like the one for you, then stop on by the shelter today to meet him.

Obedience Student

The Animal Welfare Society is fortunate to have volunteers who take adoptable dogs through the obedience classes.  They also spend quality time, playing with, walking, and running the dogs. Here’s what some volunteers had to say about Cooper:

“Playful with toys and exploring for treats during enrichment time. Smart boy – good learner in obedience class. High desire to be with people and socialize.” Emilie

“Cooper is one of those characters that keeps a straight face when he makes you laugh.  He can’t quite decide if he is a scent hound, or a sight hound.  I suppose you could call him a hybrid because when he sights a squirrel, he will then try to follow its scent.  Although while following its scent, he cheats and periodically looks up to make sure the squirrel is still in sight.  At times, Cooper can be quiet and withdrawn probably because he seeks and thrives on love and affection.  After a walk, he is content to just sit with you and quietly stare at you with his beautiful brown eyes while you scratch his head.  I suspect that if given the opportunity, lying next to, or beside someone on a couch would make his day.  Cooper is fun to be with and will easily become your best friend.” Malte

“Cooper was a pleasure to walk. We went into the woods and he never pulled. He was calm and stayed by my side. He likes to sit by you and will obey any command, no treat required.” Carla

“Sweet and affectionate. Likes highly scented treats.” Kate

“Good boy. Walks well with gentle leader.” Bob

“Sweet, gentle boy. Loves to cuddle.” Diane
