Meet Kado, a 4-year old Chinese Shar Pei. Kado is a textbook example of her breed, so it would greatly benefit anyone interested in adopting her to do some research on Shar Peis. Kado is quite active, aloof, comedic, and loyal. She would be happy to share a new home with some other dogs and dog savvy cats, though would prefer not to live with young children. One of her favorite activities is playing fetch with tennis balls, though going for walks with her people comes in a close second. If Kado sounds like the right dog for you, then stop on by the shelter today to meet her.
Adoption Fee: $99

The Animal Welfare Society is fortunate to have volunteers who take adoptable dogs through the obedience classes. They also spend quality time, playing with, walking, and running the dogs. Here’s what some volunteers had to say about Kado:
“I met Kado for the first time yesterday when I took her to obedience class. I have never known a Shar Pei so really did not know what to expect from her. She was easy to walk on leash and although a little hesitant with me at first, she did spend time with me outside and allow me to give her a neck massage. She did quite well in class and already seems to know some basic commands. She was not at all reactive to the other dogs. True to her breed, she definitely was more reserved than most dogs that I have handled, but as she got to know and trust me a little, she would accept treats from my hand and seemed to appreciate the attention. It is not often that you see this rare breed in a shelter so do come to meet her. She would be a great dog in the right kind of home.” Carol
