Lannie 07/03

Lannie is a 2 year old boxer that was found stray in a rural area in Georgia and taken to animal control. She was tested and discovered that she had heartworms while she was there. My rescue group, Road Trip Home, went to meet Lannie and found her to be the most wonderful dog. She has the sweetest and most humble disposition and she shows no aggression at all. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and there is no aggression to humans. So, we saved her from animal control and then she came to my home to stay while she underwent treatment for her heartworms. She was also very emaciated and we needed to put weight on her.

She had a bit of a hard time medically from the heartworm treatment initially but she quickly bounced back and is doing great. She is full of life, and enjoys life and playing. She is at a good healthy weight now as well. She is a sweet girl who is ready and deserving of a loving home.

Lannie may be shy at first but she warms up quickly. She has probably not had the best experiences with humans in her past until now so she needs to know she can trust you and that you will be kind to her.

Lannie should always be kept on leash unless she’s in a fenced area. Lannie would love to live with another dog to play with, but she would also be fine to be the object of complete human attention as an only dog. She is crate trained. She has not had an accident in a very long time. She needs to go out first thing in the morning and right after each meal. She eats a cup twice daily morning and night of Purina Pro Plan and has done well on that food. She is not a barker at all. She is afraid of loud noises: fireworks, gun shots, and thunder. Please keep her inside and possibly in her crate during times when those noises are happening to help her anxiousness about those things.

Lannie has not been around cats while here so I cannot say how she would be with them. I think she would do great around school age and older kids.

Lannie needs to be on heartworm prevention monthly for the rest of her life, so far she has been on Heartguard and Multi Advantage while with me and has had no issues with them.

We have loved having Lannie with us and getting to know this humble and gentle soul and would love to hear from you that she is in a home forever.
