Leroy is a 1 year old Pit Bull mix that is observed to be good with some dogs and most children. He is a big, goofy boy.
Adoption Fee: $99
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
The Animal Welfare Society is fortunate to have volunteers who take adoptable dogs through the obedience classes. They also spend quality time, playing with, walking, and running the dogs. Here’s what some volunteers had to say about Leroy:
“Our boy Leroy and I went to two events on Saturday and he did great! Our first stop was participating in the West Kennebunk Fun Day Parade. Leroy rode in a crate in the back of AWS’s Ark (van). He has perfect car manners and hopped right into the crate like a natural. Leroy was quite surprised by the sight of a pair of draft horses, I could imagine him thinking what big dogs they are!
Our next stop was the Antique Show at Kenebunk High School where AWS had a table. The first time we walked through Leroy was amazed at all the smells and sights at the different tables, and he handled himself gracefully. He really enjoyed himself most when greeting people. As soon as someone touched him he would immediately stop still hoping for more attention. Many people spent more than a few minutes with him as he leaned right into them enjoying the physical touch and attention. Everyone who saw him or interacted with him commented on his calm and gentle nature. Leroy showed his ability to be crated, deal well with stimulating sights , smells, and sounds, and greet total strangers with calm friendliness. I couldn’t have asked for a better dog to be patient while riding through a parade and then navigate the aisles at an Antique Show.
If you are looking for a great best friend – look no more, come on down and meet Leroy!” Beth V
