Pickles 06/27

Pickles is a fun little Cairn terrier mix girl! She was pulled from a rural county animal shelter where she was on death row. Road Trip Home Rescue saved her and she came to live at my house until she could go on her road trip to Maine to find a permanent home! Pickles had heartworms which we had to treat but she recovered quickly and is doing great!

Pickles is going to do best in a home with another dog. She is an active and playful little girl and she loves playing with other dogs. I think she would be really lonely if she were the only dog in a home. She will do best in a home with most any type owner: single person, couple, or home with older children. She is little and I would not suggest her to be in a home with young small children. If she is in a home with children they should be gentle and respectful of her.

Pickles is crate trained and house trained! She does enjoy seeking the solace of her crate when she wants so at home we often left the crate door open with a bed in it and she could come and go as she wanted. We did crate her for her safety when we were not at home.

She eats Purina Pro Plan, about half a cup morning and night. She likes it to be wetted down with warm water!

She goes out often here to potty, but she will adapt to whatever pottying schedule is set for her. She does need to go out first thing in the morning after waking up and needs to go out right after each meal.

She’s a funny little dog, she likes small spaces, and I think they make her feel safe. And, she doesn’t like to be pulled out when she is being quiet in her small spaces! Here she is pictured in our shoe cubby in our mudroom! This was a favorite place of hers:

Pickles is loving but she is also independent. She isn’t needy and doesn’t need to be right beside someone all the time.

Pickles needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention. She takes it the first of each month. She has been successful with us on Trifexis and Multi Advantage both.

We loved getting to know Pickles and being able to care for her. We would love to hear from you that she is finally home forever…please contact us.
