The Animal Welfare Society is fortunate to have volunteers who take adoptable dogs through the obedience classes.  They also spend quality time, playing with, walking, and running the dogs. Here’s what some volunteers had to say about Roscoe:

“I’ve been fortunate to be able to take Roscoe to Shelter Dog obedience classes, and he’s shown me what a smart boy he is! He’s very attentive, and loves treats, as well as praise. Wearing a gentle lead helps him to focus and he quickly learns new skills. Roscoe is full of youthful energy and is fun to work with, especially in agility training. He’s a handsome boy, waiting for that special person(s) who can give him plenty of exercise, continued training, and the love that he so deserves.” Susan

“Good walker on gentle leader. A fun dog.” Bob

“I had a great time with Roscoe on Saturday during our Mobile Adoption event at Mardens in Sanford. He displayed perfect leash manners, a big shout out to Susan for taking him into our shelter dog obedience class! Roscoe seems a little reserved in his kennel at AWS but get him out in front of a crowd of people and this boy is the life of the party!

He was so happy to meet kids and people of all ages. Just seeing the people walking up to the store and he would get all tail wagging and wiggly like Come say hi to me! And it worked, people and kids couldn’t help themselves with his enthusiasm and Roscoe got all the attention he was asking for and more. Everyone commented on his handsome eyes and how focused he was when he would sit on command and show off his high fives, for treats of course! Roscoe is a great dog and some person or family is going to be lucky to have him as a best friend. Come on over to AWS to meet this people loving pooch and it might be your lucky day!” Beth V
