Junior Volunteers

Junior Volunteers is on hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic.

We stringently adhere to State and CDC mandates on sanitation and social distancing for youth programming in our Humane Ed classroom and in our Adoption Center. Please note that we follow RSU 21's learning model - if our local school district switches to remote learning only, all in-person youth programs at AWS will be cancelled.

We welcome middle and high schoolers to volunteer on certain dates and times as part of our Junior Volunteer program. Junior Volunteer hours can be applied to school community service requirements.

Junior Volunteers see how many helping hands are needed keep the bustling Animal Welfare Society running smoothly. Tasks vary based on the Adoption Center's daily needs and often include cleaning animal spaces, preparing meals, making enrichments and visiting with dogs and cats.

Junior Volunteers must register in advance to join the program each semester.

There is a nominal fee of $20 per semester. This fee offsets the costs of the program itself to ensure all resources directly support the animals. Once students are officially registered in the program, they can sign up for volunteer sessions, which are usually held on the last Friday afternoon and last Saturday morning of the months and would be listed below.
