SUMMARY:Animals in the Arts: Shapes & Forms
DESCRIPTION:This program is for students in grades 2-8. \n\n\n\nStudents will learn that to draw dogs\, cats\, and other animals\, they must first break them down into basic gestures and shapes. In looking at basic body structure and anatomy\, students will have a better understanding of what makes animal’s bodies unique\, and then be able to take that knowledge to the drawing board. In this session\, kids will: \n\n\n\n○ Learn the basic shapes and forms that make up the body of a dog or cat○ Explore the outlines\, structure\, and skeleton of the animal they’re drawing○ Sketch their animal using these basic shapes○ Paint their animal using watercolor\, focusing on the wet-on-wet technique \n\n\n\nAll supplies are provided and students will be able to take their artwork home!

DESCRIPTION:Junior Animal Advocates is for students in grades 2-5. \n\n\n\nOriginally called Half-Day Helpers and Junior Volunteers\, our Animal Advocates spend three hours at AWS on select days off from school working with animals and seeing first-hand how they can help. Common tasks for our Advocates could include making enrichment activities for dogs\, cleaning or organizing cat toys\, or laying out clean bedding for rabbits and small animals. No matter what activities students work on\, they know they are making a difference for our pets!
