There are many ways businesses can impact the health and wellbeing of pets in need, support AWS community programs and foster philanthropy (and fun!) amongst employees.
Many businesses have programs to support their employees’ philanthropic endeavors, effectively allowing you to double the donation to maximize your impact on our animals. When you make a gift to AWS, ask your HR department if there is a form you can fill out to match the gift. Many companies will match 1:1, some even more! If your employer doesn’t have an HR department or a formal matching gift program, it doesn’t hurt to ask your boss or company president to help!
Similar to matching gifts, you can double your impact when you participate in an AWS fundraiser. Walking at Strut Your Mutt? Ask your employer to make a pledge, or even better, ask them to match the total pledges you bring in!
Many businesses engage employees directly in the philanthropic process. Through a variety of means, including contests, employers ask their employees to select the charity (or charities) nearest and dearest to their hearts for the business’s annual gift (or gifts).
Volunteer Hour Credits
Often referred to as “Dollars for Doers,” some businesses support their employees’ volunteer endeavors by contributing to the employee’s nonprofit, based on the number of hours the employee volunteers. If you are an AWS volunteer, check with your HR department to see if you can leverage your commitment to our animals with a financial gift from your employer.
Many businesses encourage employees to volunteer together as a team building activity. Whether doing yard work or sorting donations, AWS can sometimes accommodate small groups. Employers that sponsor their employees’ time helping out at AWS with a financial gift further the sense of accomplishment and philanthropic goodwill held by the employees.

We also have sponsorship opportunities available for businesses interested in purchasing equipment for our adoption center or clinic. Automatic Payroll Deductions
Check with your HR department to find out if you can automatically send donations as a payroll deduction. Even the smallest amount provides regular income to AWS programs and services. It’s an effortless way to support a worthy cause.
What does your employer do with merchandise that doesn’t sell or product that can’t be sold? It’s possible we could use it at AWS! You don’t have to work at a pet food plant to make a difference here – from blankets, to paper towels, from trash bags to office supplies, we utilize a wide variety of products to keep the shelter, programs and clinic running.
Foster employee camaraderie with a donation drive in the office. By collecting items from our Wish List, employees can help ensure our animals have food, comfort and enrichment while they are here. Run a contest among departments to see who can collect the most items or hold a special event to collect supplies. Businesses and their employees will make an immediate impact on pets in our care by providing the supplies we need most.
