𝟏. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐔𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬
Throw your dog their favorite toy while standing at the top of the stairs and watch them have a blast running up and down to retrieve it! To complicate the game, hide in a nearby room or hallway after your throw and see if your dog can find you!
𝟐. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐝𝐞-𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤
If you don’t have stairs, simply playing hide-and-seek with your dog can be just as rewarding. Tell your dog to “stay” while you go hide somewhere in the house, and then release them from their stay to see if they can find you! Get the whole family involved as well!
𝟑. 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐲𝐬
Working your dog’s brain is just as important as working their body. A plethora of puzzle toys exist to keep dogs thinking as well as rewarding them for their efforts. Use special treats to entice your dog and then watch them learn as they play!
𝟒. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬
It’s never a bad time to work on basic commands with your dog. While stuck inside, go over simple tricks such as “sit,” “stay,” “down,” or “speak.” This will help to refresh your dog’s memory for more complicated commands later on while also strengthening your bond.
𝟓. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐠-𝐨𝐟-𝐖𝐚𝐫
Dogs love to tug— it’s a healthy display of their natural prey drive. Plus, it strengthens their teeth and builds positive bonds to the person or dog that they’re playing with. It’s a great indoor game as well because it doesn’t take up too much space!
𝟔. 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐔𝐩 𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭
A treat hunt is just like a treasure hunt for dogs… except all the treasure is food! Hide delicious treats all around your house and then see if your dog can track them down for a yummy surprise. The more your dog succeeds, the more they’ll want to keep looking!
