For several years, we have partnered with our friends at Meowy Jane, a cat-inspired dispensary in downtown Portland. They have hosted adoption events and been very generous to our mission.
Introducing The Glitter Box
With their love of all things feline, they expanded their business this summer with the addition of The Glitter Box! The Glitter Box is a cat café which houses AWS adoptable cats. Separate from the dispensary, they welcome fellow cat-lovers to book time to relax, enjoy a cup of coffee and play with the cats who are there. You can also adopt a cat directly! It’s truly a purrrrfect experience for both cat lovers and our adoptable cats.
The Glitter Box is a dedicated cat room, built with the cats’ enrichment and wants in mind! From lots of shelving and places to climb in high areas, to some comfy nooks and crannies to hide or relax in, the kitties live in luxury while they wait for their new homes! They are open 7 days a week from noon to 4 pm, and anyone over the age of 16 can schedule a session! You can schedule a short sesh for 30-minutes, or an hour-long sesh with the resident cats.
Introducing Glitter Box Alums
The Glitter Box officially opened in July with the first adoption taking place on July 22. Since then 12 cats have been adopted with many more to come!

Introducing the Current Adoptable Cats
This unique partnership provides cats with an amazing place to wait for their new families. And it provides a new audience for potential adopters, in downtown Portland, adopters who otherwise might not have come to Kennebunk to visit AWS.
The best part of this partnership is that it’s so much fun!! It’s hard to tell who has a better time: Glitter Box visitors, Meowy Jane staff who take care of the cats or the cats themselves!
Want to meet these cats? Visit The Glitter Box’s website to learn how to reserve your time! All adoptions take place by appointment at The Glitter Box itself. Like all AWS adoptions, they are first come, first served and adopters should be prepared to take their cat home with them when they adopt.
