All play an important role in providing for our community’s pets.

Elmina B. Sewall Foundation
The Elmina B. Sewall Foundation supports work in Maine improving the well-being of people, animals and the environment. Elmina B. Sewall was a founding member of the Animal Welfare Society and major benefactor of the organization, stewarding the growth of the shelter throughout her life. This year, the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation has dedicated funding to support the Cleo Fund and the general operations of AWS.
Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund
The Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund supports organizations and programs that address population control for cats and dogs. The AWS/Cleo Fund is supported through the Belvedere Fund to continue its state-wide efforts of facilitating spay/neuter surgeries through mobile clinics.
Many local businesses organize fundraisers on AWS’ behalf. Here are a few going on right now or coming up soon.
Junebug’s Beach House
With store in Ogunquit and Kennebunkport, Junebug’s Beach House sells home decor, jewelry and pet novelties with a nautical theme. Each summer, they launch Love Four Paws, a fundraiser where they offer a special item for sale with 100% of proceeds benefitting local rescues and shelters, including AWS.
Maine Foodie Tours
Throughout the summer and fall, Maine Foodie Tours operates culinary expeditions in Kennebunkport. Proceeds from their very special Doggy and Me Tour benefit AWS!
Sanford Institution for Savings
SIS Bank recently visited AWS and presented a donation of over $1,000 collected from the sales of stuffed versions of the Bank’s mascot, Cache. Each month, Cache the Dog writes his review of new technology and the blog is published to SIS’ website. As part of the promotional launch last year for Cache, SIS had stuffed animals created to look like the husky-inspired, technology-loving character. Each Bank branch received stuffed animals to sell, with all of the proceeds designated to go to AWS.
Red Barn Inn
Under new management, the Red Barn Inn is kicking off the holiday season with a gift basket raffle to benefit AWS! From now until Christmas Eve, the Red Barn Inn is selling tickets for $5 for your chance to win a $100 gift card to the Red Barn Inn, a free grooming session, treats and toys for the pet in your life and some special goodies for the humans as well. Stop by the Red Barn Inn for your chance to win, 100% of ticket sales will be donated to AWS and winners announced Christmas day.
