I couldn’t have better things to say about the Paws in Stripes program at AWS in Kennebunk, ME.  We reside in Rochester, NH and found out about the program by visiting the website.  We saw Charlie available and drove over the next morning to meet him.  We spent a good few hours at AWS playing with and walking Charlie around the trails.  Charlie was great from the moment we met.  He was a gentle and playful 4 month old, weighing 30lbs and had giant paws that gave the impression that he was going to be a larger size dog.  The Paws and Stripes training program is excellent.  Charlie knew many commands, was crate trained, house broken and said to be good with cats.  We adopted him that day.  We have 3 cats at home and after the initial meet and greet they bonded as friends for life.   Charlie goes everywhere we go.  He is a great companion, loves to hike and swim and loves the snow.  Charlie is now 2 years old and weighs in at a lean 70+ lbs.  He is as gentle and playful as when 1st adopted him.  Everyday to Charlie is the happiest day ever.  He greets everyone he meets with whole body wag and is well known on trails we frequent.  We recently adopted another dog from AWS for my mother in-law, who has an apartment connect to our house.  She needed a smaller dog and we found Lucy, who was part of the Paws across America program.  Lucy is a 1 1/2 year old terrier mix who weighs in at 10lbs.  She is full of energy, visits daily and is as friendly as Charlie. To anyone considering adopting a new family member I would highly recommend the Paws in Stripes program.
