Jada

On March 20, 2014, I adopted Jada – a 4 year old boxer rescued from a southern kill shelter.  She is gentle, friendly with people and other dogs and just a delight to be with.  We took obedience classes together with Kim, so that I could be properly trained — Jada showed remarkable patience as I learned the ropes.  Since we met,  we have made several trips to Canada and to Lubec, Maine.   Long car rides don’t phase her – she wants to be part of any activity that is planned.  She loves walks in the woods and on the beach.  Each activity is greeted with an enthusiasm that is infectious.

Jada has filled a hole in my life that I did not know I had. Our morning walk – usually on Goose Rocks Beach – is  the highlight of each day for me.  And since we became friends, Jada has helped me get healthier and lose 30 pounds.  Walking her is much more fun than going to the gym!
I am grateful to the AWS for the advice they offered, their followup to see how we were doing and the wonderful care they gave her when she came up to Maine from Georgia.  Jada has become my best buddy.
Thank you, staff and volunteers, for all that you do.
Chris
