Astrid Wielens

Astrid Wielens grew up in the Netherlands and moved to New Hampshire after college for an internship at the American Youth Foundation. Throughout her 14 years there, she supported every aspect of the organization and served in various leadership roles. She was the founder and Executive Director of Zebra Crossings, a Dover, NH-based nonprofit supporting youth with chronic medical conditions and their families. She is pleased to bring her skills and expertise to support the mission of Animal Welfare Society. In fact, Astrid served as Interim Executive Director of AWS from May 2025 – January 2026. In her free time she enjoys woodworking and hiking with her golden retriever Luca.
