Support veterinary care for pets who need it most

Lack of access to affordable veterinary care should never be a reason a pet goes untreated or has to be rehomed. Therefore, by giving to support veterinary care, via one of our dedicated funds, you keep pets happy, healthy and at home – right where they belong.

Companions for Life Fund

At AWS, our mission is to provide resources to all pets, whether an AWS resident awaiting a new home, or a beloved companion to a community member. We do this through our very own Community Veterinary Clinic. Our Clinic’s services are affordable, keeping veterinary care accessible to everyone.

The Companions for Life Fund supports the veterinary care of resident pets, so they go to their new homes happy and healthy. Additionally, it supports the Companion Program, a subsidized tier of fees offered to qualified Clinic clients, to ensure pet families stay together and thrive.

Dr. Sharp Memorial Fund

Dr. Don Sharp joined the AWS Community Veterinary Clinic shortly after it opened in 2018. He brought to the Clinic a steadfast presence, a depth of veterinary knowledge and a genuine love for all animals. With his soft-spoken nature and kind demeanor, he was beloved by his colleagues, AWS volunteers and the clients he served. Dr. Sharp passed away after a short illness in late 2021. He is greatly missed.

The Dr. Don Sharp Memorial Fund, established in his memory by his family and dear friends. They dedicated the fund to provide quality and affordable veterinary care to those pets in our community who need it most. Thank you for remembering Don with your generosity.

Working with both children and pets takes a special and compassionate person, and that’s exactly how we would describe our Youth Programs volunteers! Alongside our Youth Programs Coordinator, volunteers help children visiting with AWS both inside and outside the classroom with fun games, tasks, education and, of course, animals. With programs like Rescue Readers, Furry Tales, and After School Club, there’s a lot to do around here regarding humane education! We’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of our Youth Programs volunteers who assist in teaching compassion, kindness, and care for all creatures!
