Dogs & Puppies

Thank you for choosing Animal Welfare Society as a place to adopt a pet! The Adoption Center houses dogs of all kinds, and they are all waiting to make your acquaintance. Please note that we regularly have puppies for adoption. Many of them are rescue puppies that came to AWS through our Paws Across America program. If you do not see any puppies listed at this time, please check back in again soon.

Pet meet-and-greets and adoptions are by appointment.  Appointments can be made by calling (207) 985-3244 daily after 9 am. Walk ins may be able to get a day of appointment, depending on the Adoption Center schedule and the pet’s availability. On any given day, most of our pets are in foster care or out with volunteers, and not on site. Thus, it’s best to call ahead to make an appointment. Learn more on our HOW TO ADOPT page.

Please note: Our adoption pages are REAL TIME, so as soon as an animal is adopted, they will “disappear” from the website.
