Dopey now Nugget

I got nugget around 2021-2022 I believe, he was my pride and joy for a long time. He enjoyed eating snacks (specifically seeds or nuts) and running on his wheel. Nugget was a very lovable hamster, he loved to be held and would even lay down with you right on your neck. Unfortunately near the end of 2022 he got ill, we brought him to the vets and managed to get him medicine as they said he just had mites. Later on we noticed more and more hair loss despite thinking the mites were gone as we used all the medication. We got him more of the same medication figuring the mites were still there and or came back, unfortunately it was much worse than that.

Nugget had stopped using his wheel entirely yet he hadn’t given up fighting for his life yet, we brought him to the vets once again and they found a lump underneath his back leg which explained why he didn’t run on his wheel anymore. The vet brought him outback and tested to see if it was an abscess or cancerous, unfortunately it was cancerous. That day we put Nugget down. It’s been almost three years since then and I still mourn him every day. Thanks to AWS I managed to have a small best friend for a couple years of my life and I’d do it over and over again if given the chance.
