Animals in the Arts: Shapes & Forms
December 27, 2023 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
This program is for students in grades 2-8.
Students will learn that to draw dogs, cats, and other animals, they must first break them down into basic gestures and shapes. In looking at basic body structure and anatomy, students will have a better understanding of what makes animal’s bodies unique, and then be able to take that knowledge to the drawing board. In this session, kids will:
○ Learn the basic shapes and forms that make up the body of a dog or cat
○ Explore the outlines, structure, and skeleton of the animal they’re drawing
○ Sketch their animal using these basic shapes
○ Paint their animal using watercolor, focusing on the wet-on-wet technique
All supplies are provided and students will be able to take their artwork home!
