Elise was adopted from Animal Welfare Society in January of 2019! We were told when we adopted her that she had been at the same crate at the same shelter somewhere down south for 1.5-2 years…which is a lot of time for ANY animal. However, considering she was about 4 years old at the time of adoption, she had spent about half her life just sleeping it away and waiting for a place to call home.
One of her ears was laid down flat for months post-adoption, due to sleeping on it during the time she had spent at her previous shelter. She was transported up to AWS the exact same day I went in to look for a cat to call my own, and I knew she was the one for me. She was extremely sweet and loving straight away, and she wouldn’t let her past define her. Although she was definitely reserved at first, after all, it took her just shy of a year to come out of hiding. She has slowly gained her confidence throughout the years! She now spends her time as a senior lady sleeping in the sun, playing with her favorite catnip toys, and being a little cuddle-bug. Elise has finally found her confidence, and now has two cat-parents who love her very much.
