Holly

We adopted Holly when she was 12-1/2. She had been in the shelter for only a week. She had been one of eight dogs, was deaf from lifelong untreated ear infections, was severely matted, and needed 13 teeth extracted. My husband and I are in our 70s and desperately wanted a dog but feared adopting one with high energy needs. Holly was perfect for us and we determined to give her her best life for however long she lived. She turned 15 on July 5th and we couldn’t have asked for a better dog to share life with. She is sweet and calm and loves everyone and, to our surprise, is a flock guardian.

We live between our daughter and my niece and their families and both have free range chickens. Holly has saved them a number of times by noticing predators nearby, even an overhead hawk, and barking to alert everyone. She and I go for a walk in the woods several times a day and at 15 we’re excited to say that her health is still excellent. I know how hard it must be to have your job, to see animals surrendered and to witness their fear and suffering. I want you to know that you totally changed the life of this one dog and all three of us really, my husband and I and Holly. We are incredibly grateful for all you do and for being the source of our daily joy from having Holly in our lives. Thank you so much!!
