Hi everyone, we are Cherry & Blossom. We are a pair of nice little mice here at AWS. There are seven more of us too, and our friends at AWS say we must go home in groups, and we’re already paired up, isn’t that nice!! In this week’s Pet of the Week, Cherry & Blossom are here to tell YOU why mice are nice (and why you should adopt!)
1. Mice Have Playful Personalities
All mice have their own unique personalities that make us very nice. For instance, I (Cherry) am a bit more curious and likely to explore than my friend Blossom. She likes to watch from a distance. Our other mice pals are fun too! With our playfulness and nice personalities, we’re fun to watch and can keep you entertained with our antics! From playing and burrowing to climbing around we offer a lot of playful fun!
2. They’re Social Creatures
Along with our fun and playful personalities, we are very social. All of the mice at AWS are looking to go home with a friend (or friends!). Along with myself and Blossom, we’re also all females! Female mice like ourselves thrive in social environments, making bonds with our friends that are very meaningful. We also love to bond with our people!
3. Mice like Nice, Small Spaces
Living in a dorm or an apartment? Well lucky for you, Blossom and I don’t take up much space! Unlike larger animals, like cats or dogs, mice like us generally don’t need much space to live comfortably. We thrive in a well-ventilated space that can be right on your desk! Being small is one of the many reasons mice are nice!
4. They’re Smart & Trainable
One thing you may find surprising about me, Cherry, and my friend Blossom, is that we can be trained! We may not learn to the same extent as a canine, but with some patience we can recognize our names, run mazes and learn some simple tricks! We may be small, but we are nice and clever especially when there is a treat or two as a reward!
5. They’re Nice and Quiet
If you’re looking for new furry companions that aren’t going to make a ton of noise, then Blossom and I are the ones for you! One thing that makes mice awesome as pets is we are generally very quiet. No barking or meowing from us, just some gentle squeaks and the sounds of adventuring our space. Nothing that will disturb your peace and quiet!
6. Mice are Low Maintenance Friends
Another reason mice are awesome is that we are very low maintenance. You may be surprised to know that mice keep themselves very clean. We require small amounts of grooming and small habitats. This means we’re relatively inexpensive to care for compared to other pets! As long as we have some fun and yummy food we’re happy!
7. Mice Like Home Decorating
While we aren’t starring on HGTV or anything, we do like having fun games and décor in our habitat. Plus, we love trying new things so, you get to have all of the fun making our space enjoyable for us! I know Blossom loves her space to burrow and relax, while I love to run around and explore. From tunnels, wheels, platforms and toys you can make our world exciting in so many ways! And when the mood hits you, we welcome your interior design changes to make our home fun and interesting.
8. They’re Nice Teaching Pets
Because we’re so awesome, Blossom, myself and all of the mice here at AWS would be great pets to educate kids on how to care for a pet. With the ease of care and how much fun we are, mice are great options to help teach them about how to handle and care for a pet. First time families can learn the importance of empathy and understand why having a companion like us is so great! We make nice classroom pets, hint hint.
9. They’re Great Snuggle Buddies!
With regular handling, we will show you love and affection like only mice can! We’ll love climbing on your hands or shoulders to keep you company! We always appreciate our human families in our own, tiny way, whether it’s cuddling in your hand, scurrying up your arm, or hanging together while watching TV, we are the cutest little cuddlers and ready to be your new best friends!
