Youth Education

Teaching compassion is an important part of our mission. We provide engaging humane education curriculums and fun programs, for children of all ages. We creatively and interactively share the importance of spaying and neutering, long-term commitment to a pet, kind animal treatment, proper pet care and more!

Birthday Parties

Having a birthday party at AWS is a great way for any animal-loving kid to celebrate with fun games, keepsake crafts and lots of animal time!

Story Hours

Preschoolers and their families are welcome to join AWS’ Humane Educators to explore the exciting world of animals with stories, playtime, crafts, songs, movement and plenty of animal time!

After School Clubs

After school clubs provide specialized, interactive programming for students interested in animal care.

Half Day Programs

We offer different opportunities for children to visit us and learn about what we do as well as enjoy games, crafts, and fun!

Day Camps

At AWS day camps, students learn about animal of all kinds, in a fun, engaging environment. Field trips and interactive presentations promote curiosity, adventure and animal advocacy.

Jumping for Joy

Jumping for Joy pairs high school students on the autism spectrum with AWS alumni dogs for an hour of agility training.

Visits & Tours

School groups, community groups, scout troops and others are invited to visit AWS. Tours include some interaction with the animals, lively discussions, and a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into running a community adoption center. Private tours are also available for youth heroes. Likewise, our Humane Education staff can come to you for classroom visits or community presentations.
