When you hear of a suffering pet, do you ask yourself, how can I help? How can I change a pet’s life?

Here are a few stories to show how supporters like you make a difference every day.

Little Daisy

black puppy named Little Daisy

Little Daisy had been found on the streets in a rural county in the South, a lone puppy with no family to turn to for safety and love. Thankfully, she made her way to AWS through our transport program. Upon initial exam at our Veterinary Clinic, she was diagnosed with mange and later broke with an upper respiratory infection.. It took about two weeks, and several rounds of medication and treatments, for Daisy to feel better.

Sweet Opal

tortoiseshell cat named Sweet Opal

Sweet senior Opal came to AWS after her beloved owner passed away. Upon arrival, Opal was dehydrated, underweight and feeling quite poorly. Out vet team did a thorough exam and discovered several chronic health issues, which likely had been overlooked in her owner’s final days. After a few weeks in our care, with frequent blood work and vet visits, we got her back on a healthy track. She’s back on daily medication and is feeling better day by day.

Handsome Jackson

Brown and black dog named Handsome Jackson

Handsome Jackson came as a stray. When animal control dropped him off, he was limping. An x-ray revealed a small fracture in his back leg. Additionally, Jackson’s ears were filthy and infected. Turns out Jackson was deaf, due to scarring from chronic untreated ear infections. To reduce his pain and bring back his hearing, our veterinarians performed a complex surgery on his ear canals. After making a complete recovery, both from the ear surgery and broken leg, Jackson is now pain free and ready for a bright and happy future.

These three pets came into our care because they needed help. They found health and happiness because of you – our supporters – who believe in our mission and know that we will do whatever it takes to make pets well. With your gift today, you give health and happiness to pets like Daisy, Opal and Jackson.

You give a new beginning to those pets who need it most and you ensure we always have the funds available to make a difference in a pet’s life.

Dogs are known for their loyalty, and cats for their companionship, but not many know of how fun, loving, and unique a guinea pig can be, like our friend 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 here. So, to celebrate our many cute cavies and to help these furry friends get adopted, we’re here to shed some light on why guinea pigs make the perfect pets!

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲.
Guinea pigs come in many shapes, sizes, and colors, and each pig has their own personality and preferences. Some pigs have long, silky hair while others have short, coarse hair. Some pigs are all black while others can be calico or brindle. There are even guinea pigs who are born naturally bald! And like all animals, pigs have different personalities. Some are more shy and introverted, while others are more outgoing and energetic. No matter what, though, you can bet your cavie will be a loyal and loving companion!
