Affordable Pet Care in a Modern Facility

Keeping pets happy, healthy and at home with the people who love them is an important part of our work. Our mission seeks to provide affordable and accessible pet resources to pet lovers in our local area. Thus, our Community Veterinary Clinic, which serves both our resident population of pets and pets belonging to community members, offers affordable pricing and easy scheduling.

We offer a two-tiered pricing system for many of our veterinary services: Community Pricing and our Companion Program. The Companion Program offers discount on many of our veterinary services, for community members who qualify (based on income qualifications). Donations to the Companions for Life Fund support the Companion Program. It is our mission keep our prices as affordable as possible.

Payment Plans

Care Credit and Scratch Pay are third-party payment plan programs which AWS’ Community Veterinary Clinic accepts.

CareCredit

CareCredit is a line of credit that can be used to cover veterinary costs. (You can use it for your own health expenses, too.) It is typically offered with a promotional period, allowing you to make convenient monthly payments without accruing interest. Visit CareCredit’s website to see which providers accept CareCredit and for more information. AWS’ Community Veterinary Clinic accepts CareCredit.

ScratchPay

Scratchpay offers simple and affordable payment plans for large veterinary bills.  Apply for Scratch Pay and check your interest rate any time without affecting your credit score. Completing the application and accepting the loan terms takes just a couple of minutes, on a cell phone or computer. Learn more on ScratchPay’s website. AWS’ Community Veterinary Clinic accepts ScratchPay.

Companion Program Pricing

For many of our veterinary care services, we offer a two-tier pricing system. The discounted/low cost tier, known as the Companion Program, is based on income qualifications. To qualify, clients must provide current dated documentation for one or more of the following:

  • SSI, SSDI
  • Food support (SNAP, EBT)
  • Medicaid
  • MaineCare
  • VA disability
  • WIC
  • Section 8 housing
  • and more (please ask when you make your appointment)

Documentation must be in the form of a recent dated statement or letter from the subsidy program showing you are actively receiving benefits.

Please note that the Companion program subsidized pricing is not available on every veterinary service we offer.

We accept credit card, debit card, CareCredit, Scratch Pay and cash payments but we are unable to accept EBT/MaineCare cards or personal checks.

While we are unable to offer payment plans, we can direct you to veterinary financial aid resources that may be able to provide financial assistance.

Looking for Financial Aid Resources?

We understand that veterinary care can be expensive, so we’ve compiled a list of financial aid resources, both local and national. One of these resources may be of help to you in lessening the cost of you your pet’s care.

Working with both children and pets takes a special and compassionate person, and that’s exactly how we would describe our Youth Programs volunteers! Alongside our Youth Programs Coordinator, volunteers help children visiting with AWS both inside and outside the classroom with fun games, tasks, education and, of course, animals. With programs like Rescue Readers, Furry Tales, and After School Club, there’s a lot to do around here regarding humane education! We’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of our Youth Programs volunteers who assist in teaching compassion, kindness, and care for all creatures!
