Adopt A Shelter Dog Month
October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Of course, at AWS, every month is a month to celebrate dog adoptions! Today we share some of the pups hoping to be adopted in October.
Adopt Willow!
Willow is a sweet, affectionate young gal looking for a home to call her own. She loves her people and is very snuggly and loving. In Willow’s opinion, there is nothing better than cuddling on the couch together!
On the other hand, we wouldn’t call her a couch potato. In fact, she loves to do zoomies for the first few minutes when she got out each morning.
She’d be happiest in a quiet and low-key household, without a lot of inside or outside commotion. Unknown noises or visitors sometime catch her off guard and make her nervous. So she’d prefer not to live in an apartment-like setting and would be happiest in a home, perhaps on a quiet street or near a wooded backyard. Since she’s been a shelter resident at AWS, she has particularly enjoyed taking walks in our wooded backyard and enjoying the trail walks down to the river. She does great on a harness and spending time outdoors. So if you have love for the outdoors along with a love for couch snuggles, stop by and adopt Willow today!
Adopt Riddick!
Riddick is a caring and kind older gentleman who is happiest when he is with his people. He’s always down for an adventure and will make the best copilot and friend. Riddick has also been around the block a few times and knows many cues and tricks like ‘sit’ or ‘find it.’ He’s a real social butterfly with people as well and makes friends wherever he goes. Because he attaches to his humans so strongly, Riddick would do best as the only dog in the home. Riddick is also looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood. A lot of traffic and dog neighbors cause high alert with can stress him out. Riddick is one of our longest term shelter residents, so isn’t it time he finds his own home?
Adopt Piper!
This sweetheart is a silly and fun-loving girl who can be described as an introvert. She can be shy and timid at first and may need some time to blossom. Once she does, however, she’s a real goober who loves attention, loves to frolic, and is a real family girl!
Piper came into our care rather shy and unsure. Her first days in the shelter were nerve-wracking for her. She was wary around new people and it took her awhile to feel comfortable and safe. However, while she’s been in our care since May, she been in foster care since July. She’s come a long way and is now a very friendly, active, and loving girl who is ready to find her happy family! Piper loves the outdoors and often wants to lead the way during walks. She loves to lay down in the sunshine and frolic in the open fields. She has a lot of energy and spunk! Piper would benefit from an active family who can take her hiking, jogging, swimming, or whatever else to keep her healthy and happy. Because of her energy and boisterous lifestyle, Piper would do best with older kids or adults only in her new home.
Adopt Boomer!
Boomer is a fun and outgoing family dog. He loves being with his people and is a loyal and loving companion. He’s lived with older children and enjoyed their company as well as the company of adults. Whether inside snuggling on the couch, or outside in the yard, he’s a great pal! He enjoys taking walks and let’s his nose lead the way – he is a hound mix after all.
For a hound, Boomer’s not too too loud You can usually tell with your ears when we have a hound in the shelter, but Boomer’s been a pretty good guest so far. If you’d always loved hound dogs, here’s your chance to adopt your very own!
Adopt Daisy!
Daisy is a young, fun, outgoing gal. She’s got Great Dane in her so she is a big, tall lady – coming in at 100+ pounds. She relishes the outdoors, so going on jogs with her people is as enjoyable to her as walks. She’s also as smart as can be and knows many cues including come, sit, shake, and lay down. She’d love to keep learning more!
She’s a loving and loyal companion who enjoys relaxing around the house with her people. She’s a dear pal and has never met a stranger. She may release a deep bark when first meeting, but before long, she’s waiting for snuggles, hugs and kisses! She’ll make a wonderful only-dog to her new family and light up her new home with her love and joy! All she needs is a family to adop her!
Adopt Rayelle!
Rayelle is a sweet and quiet gal looking for a quiet home to call her own. She’d like to be the queen of her own castle – just her and her people, no other pets and not a lot of hustle and bustle. So if you’ve been looking to adopt a dog into your family, and don’t have one already, consider Rayelle!
Rayelle loves to be with her people whether it’s exploring the neighborhood on a walk, taking a drive in the car, or just hanging around the house and yard doing chores. She’s a very loyal dog who loves her people. She’s especially fond of butt scritches and won’t say no to some fetch with a tennis ball! She can be spunky when playing and serene when snuggling together. She’s made the most of her time here at the shelter, but she’s ready to find her own home. As anyone of us can tell you, she’s a loyal and loving companion!
Adopt Hank!
Hank is your classic extrovert who loves attention, is goofy and fun-loving, and will be your loving and loyal buddy, ready to take on life’s adventures together!
Hank is active, sweet, silly, and a real outdoorsman. He’s always down for a walk or a jog or an adventure in the great outdoors. This is good news, too, as Hank is slightly above his ideal weight and could use some exercise to help him get healthy. Hank has gone out on doggy dates before around town and all those who met him fell in love! Like several of the dogs highlighted here, Hank is in foster care, so he’s not in the shelter, so you’ll want to call to make an appointment to meet and adopt him.
Adopt Frankie!
Frankie is a great family pet. She’s lived with people of all ages in the past and enjoyed their company. She’s a young dog so she’s got plenty of energy to burn. She loves playing fetch, going on walks, doing zoomies in the yard, and being near her people. She loves to be loved and will never say no to affection! She’s been a staff favorite here and we can’t wish for anything more than for sweet Frankie to be adopted during “Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.”
She’s a smart girl and would love to take training classes with her people. It’s a great way to bond and a great way to show Frankie some life skills (like not pulling when walking!) So if you’d like to adopt a smart and scruffy new friend, look no further than Frankie!
