Tip: Get the Kids Involved in Training!
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀!
You’ve been working hard to train the dog, but don’t forget the kids! From a young age, you can instill in your child the basics of respecting animals and understanding their boundaries. This will go a long way in a happy, harmonious household. Involve your child in appropriate basic dog care activities such as filling Kongs and keeping the water bowl full. Furthermore, encourage and supervise structured games such as fetch. This is a great week to play inside or outside with your pets and your kids to work on these skills. And always practice positive reinforcement training.
These tasks are great things to work on while the kids are home on break! Being a crucial part of your dog’s daily care will help set the foundation for future dog training with your kids.
If your child is age 9 or above, and your dog has already taken a class with us, you can even sign up for our Junior Dog Trainers program, starting in January!
