Mother Daughter Duo
We’re kicking off our Volunteer Spotlight with a mother daughter duo: Meira & Sicily! These two have been volunteering at AWS for nearly a year now. They take on some of the more challenging tasks every Monday afternoon.
From mopping the floors to deep cleaning rooms, these two help AWS staff prepare for closing. Rolling up their sleeves and making sure we have a welcoming space for both animals and adopters is hard work, especially at the end of a long day! These two go above and beyond each week, doing amazing jobs that AWS staff and all the animals deeply appreciate! With their help, the Adoption Center’s cat areas and clean and tidy and ready for adopters in the morning. This allows the morning volunteers to focus solely on cleaning up the animals’ kennels, which get a complete refresh every morning.
Meira and Sicily also help our Adoption Center team with some animal enrichment time in the afternoons. Not only is it fun for them, the cats love it too!
So what does this mother daughter duo like to do?
- chatting quietly while hanging out with a more timid cat
- playing with a cat that’s full of energy and spunk
- snuggling a sleepy kitten (or even a whole litter of sleepy kittens)
- giving lap cats lap time!
- and so much more!
