Celebrate Serpents with AWS Youth Programs

A snake wraps around a children's book about snakes during Furry Tales Story Hour.

Did you know that February 1st is National Serpent Day? It also happens to be the start of National Library Lovers Month. We couldn’t think of a better way to share that all February long, Furry Tales will focus on snakes and reptiles as the overall theme of each event! Celebrate serpents this month with AWS Youth Programs!

Starting Friday, February 2 at Kennebunk Free Library, Miss Amanda will be traveling to local libraries in our communities to read stories, play songs, show some puppets, and share facts about our scaly friends. We encourage kids to engage during story time, sing and dance along to the music and, of course, interact with live animals who come along for a visit. You never know, you might just realize that reptiles are the pets for you!

Furry Tales is always FREE to attend and anyone can swing by for a visit. Although the activities are designed for pre-schoolers, it’s furry (or scaly!) fun for the whole family! If your child has ever wondered about our reptile companions, join us at a library near you and help us to celebrate serpents!
