CHUNK HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Hi everyone, my name is Chunk and it is wonderful to meet you. GivingTuesday is tomorrow December 3rd, and I’ve been asked by my friends at AWS to represent team #awscat as we hope to repeat last year’s victory!
What is GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year and has become a global movement encouraging people to share generosity. Here at AWS, we hold a friendly competition between (the reigning champions) team #awscat and team #awsdog. Whoever raises the most money wins and all funds go to care for all pets that rely on AWS this time of year, like me!
So what will I be doing on GivingTuesday? Well, I’ll be here at AWS hoping it’s my turn to be adopted. You might wonder if I’m the right cat for you. Let me tell you a little bit more about me. You won’t see me when you’re in the Adoption Center because I have a very special place here at AWS: Fort Chunk. My friend and AWS’ Volunteer Coordinator Rachel has taken me under her wing and set up a nice cozy fort for me on her desk. You see, I am very shy, what you humans might call a wallflower. I’m not used to much hustle and bustle and lots of people and noises really frighten me. Rachel has made a nice quiet space for me in her office and she uses her quietest voice and softest movements when I’m around. With her gentle care, I am slowly, very slowly, very very slowly, coming out of my shell. In my new home, I’ll want a quiet and gentle person (or people) who will understand my wallflower ways and give me a chance to become your best buddy, your best quiet, laidback buddy. Maybe you’re looking for a best buddy? Maybe I’m the one you’re looking for?
So anyway, back to GivingTuesday. This is the eighth consecutive year of the competition, and this year my friends at AWS have made it all about which species is the Best Buddy. The species that wins the contest will be crowed Best Buddy! Now I’m pretty biased, but I’m pretty sure cats make the best buddies and I’m counting on Team #awscat to win – but only if you chip in!
Whether you’re helping the felines retain the GivingTuesday crown, or supporting team #awsdog, your contribution supports all the animals here at AWS, from the outgoing active animals like Reef to quiet, introverted animals like myself. The care that the AWS staff and volunteers give is so impactful. It helps me, and all of us, thrive during this chapter of our lives. And we are grateful.
