Kate Gollon, DVM

Lead Staff Veterinarian

Kate Gollon received her DVM from Cornell University in 2011 and has worked in animal welfare ever since. First, she completed a year-long Shelter Medicine Internship at Cornell, followed by a stint with the ASPCA working on a dog fighting case, and most recently, focusing on high quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries (HQHVSN) and shelter medicine at the ARL of Boston. Kate came to AWS in 2019 and particularly enjoys the variety of work AWS provides: shelter medicine, community medicine and HQHVSN. When away from work, Kate loves spending time with her family (husband, daughter, 2 cats and 2 dogs), hiking, cooking and traveling.

Hi there! My name is Pons and it`s a pleasure to meet you! I`ve taken over AWS` social media today so you guys can get a better feel for what I`m all about. They told me I could publish anything on here, so I thought I would share with you some of my personal poetry. You see, I`m an old soul and back in my day, we expressed our feelings through words and deep contemplation. So, without further ado, enjoy my poem entitled "Self Reflection."

"They call me Pons,
and good boy,
and good dog,
and sometimes cutie pie.
But what is in a name anyway?
P stands for personality, which in that I have a lot.
O stands for outgoing, something that describes me well.
N stands for nice, which I always strive to be.
and S stands for searching, something I do daily in pursuit of home.

They call me Pons,
and goofy boy,
and gentle boy,
and sometimes handsome dog.
I think these names fit me well,
but when I find my family,
I will only go by 𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓎."
