Laura Desmarais started her dog training career as a student of the Animal Behavior College program. In 2020 she spent time job shadowing AWS trainers as a volunteer and within no time, she was teaching classes of her own. Laura earned her certification as a professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) in 2023. She teaches everything from Puppy to AKC Fit Dog classes. When Laura is not working, she is spending time with her husband, son and 3 dogs.
If you`ve recently been shopping in the heart of Kennebunkport for Prelude, you may have noticed the AWS Fur Tree! Located at the Kennebunkport Inn in Dock Square, this special tree is dedicated to all lost, homeless, and community pets!
Honor a friend or family member’s pet, or remember your own beloved companion by purchasing an inscribed bow with the pet’s name on it for the Fur Tree. The bow will be placed on the tree along with hundreds of others as a tribute to the many pets and pet lovers in our community. Due to the kindness and generosity of local supports, 100% of the proceeds goes to AWS! 🎀

Do you have a little artist at home who loves to draw, paint, or sketch? Do they also love animals and want to learn more about the painting process? If so, we have the perfect program for your child!
Animals in the Arts explores the fundamentals of drawing and painting while also learning which shapes make up cats and dogs. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in watercolor, focusing on the wet-on-wet technique. All supplies are provided and students will be able to take their artwork home!
