First off, what is an ACT? It’s an Animal Care Technician, the folks who provide daily care to the pets in our shelter. And we are looking for more to join our team!
Are you someone who’s looking to make a difference in your community? Animal Welfare Society is hiring for full-time Animal Care Technician (ACT) positions. Each day presents a different opportunity to care for animals and be a resource for the community.
Making a Difference
This fun and fast-paced job centers around the needs for animals in our care as well as the needs of our community. Every day, Animal Care Technicians work hands-on with the pets residing in our shelter. At Animal Welfare Society, we take care of many different kinds of animals, not just cats and dogs! From mice to mastiffs, Animal Care Technicians learn and perform safe animal handling and husbandry tasks.
The Different Roles of an ACT
Our team plays a variety of roles each day for the pets in our care. We get to be chefs, preparing daily diets for each species. We’re also a professional cleaning team, making sure each pet has a safe and comfortable environment to live. Animal Care Technicians are the entertainment, ensuring each pet’s life is enriched during their say. We are also counselors, helping pets find the next home in their journey through adoption. An Animal Care technician gets to be a jack of all trades at AWS!
Become an ACT at AWS
Each and every day is a new adventure when working with animals. While there are routines that the Adoption Center team follows daily, we never know what new pets will be coming in and the care they will need. As a community resource, our team is able to work directly with pet owners, adopters and our local Animal Control Officers to meet their needs. AWS is a safe place to land when a pet gets loose, and we are matchmakers for families looking to add a furry addition to their home!
