I’m Buttons, an avid bird watcher, classic introvert and big fan of personal space. I enjoy quiet surroundings, gentle pets and getting to know people at my own pace. Being picked up isn’t really my thing, but give me a little time and I may decide you’re worthy of the inner circle.
A note from the shy cats
Cats like me may need a little extra time to feel comfortable in a new home. A quiet space, predictable routine and people who let us approach on our own terms can go a long way. The little milestones—staying nearby, offering a slow blink or asking for pets—can feel especially rewarding when you know they come from growing trust.
My ideal arrangement
I’d be happiest in a quieter home with adults or older kids who appreciate an independent cat. Give me a good window for bird watching, cozy places to relax and the freedom to choose when I’m ready for attention. I may not be an instant best friend, but with patience, I can become a wonderful, low-key companion.
How to win me over
Patience is a very good start. Let me come to you, keep things calm and don’t be offended if I need a little time to warm up. Gentle pets, a few treats and a comfortable spot nearby are much more my speed than being scooped up for a cuddle. Give me the chance to make the first move, and you may be surprised by how much trust can grow.
